What’s in your Billingham – Tracey Welch

07/10/13

This feature gives you a sneaky peak into the Billingham Bag belonging to one of the North’s top photographers – Tracey Welch is October’s photographer of choice.

Tracey Welch is an award winning creative photographer with a studio base in Leeds but works all over the UK and internationally. Her commercial clients include Barclays Bank, William Hill and Ted Baker and most recently she’s delivered campaigns for Crabbie’s Ginger Beer and NPower. For the last nine years Tracey’s also been signed to a London picture agency to deliver live music images from festivals, gigs and venues. Tracey shot the Lambrini image below using one of our fabulous locations earlier this year.

So Tracey, what’s in your bag?

I usually carry a couple of camera bodies and three or four lenses but my Nixon 50mm goes absolutely everywhere with me. It can handle any eventuality. It’s perfect in low light and offers great depth of field so works perfectly for live music stuff and also for lots of corporate projects and portraits. In fact you can only see the lens cap here as mt 50mm is taking the picture!

Essential peripherals – flash gun, light meter, flash cards, battery pack and charger, grips for backdrops or diffusion, gaffer tape, cleaning cloth and cables.

Macbook and card reader – four events we’re often uploading images for social media as we go and turning post production around on location.

Miscellaneous – Business cards and . . . spare hells. Generally I’m in flats but you never know when some extra glamour (or extra height!) might come in handy.

Thanks Tracey!
