Lots of our locations take us to Manchester, which is great because it’s a city we love. It’s also where we met our lovely intern Jade.
Manchester has been home to various features such as Scott and Bailey, Fresh Meat and Boy Meets Girl.
The Northern Quarter in particular is a great filming location and has been transformed several times into a whole different era, from the 1940’s in Captain America to Victorian London for Sherlock Holmes.
The Knowledge has created a brilliant E-Guide for filming on location in Yorkshire and the North West, it’s really worth a read.
Manchester has some amazing architecture, so make sure to look up when you visit. We also recommend calling in to visit the newly refurbished Manchester Central Library, it is truly beautiful.
We’ve selected a few of our favourite Manchester locations below:
Location 2349 – Warehouses and derelict buildings are always popular and we have a wide selection, but this is one of our favourites.
Location 1686 – This location is great, it’s an all-rounder, perfect for filming with large open plan rooms.
Location 1089 – With it’s large, contemporary kitchen and open plan lounge/dining area, film shoots are a breeze with this location.
Location 1995 – Boasts amazing views of Manchester in this luxurious penthouse apartment.
We thought it would be mean not to share our top places to eat, but please don’t tell too many people!
One of Ellie’s favourite spots to eat is at Manchester House. The food always looks amazing and the venue itself is funky and different.
Jade recommends one of Manchester’s hidden gems. Umami is a noodle and sushi restaurant hidden downstairs on Oxford Road. The Neon Noodles sign looks dubious from the outside but it’s a perfect little hideaway with great food and the sushi is amazing.
Louise loves a burger and her favourite place to eat them is at Almost Famous, she was saddened to hear that the venue had burnt down. However they came back even bigger this year with a brand new venue and even better burgers!
Lauren’s favourite place to visit is Teacup on Thomas Street. Eggs all day, cake’s galore with a huge variety of teas, coffees and even jam and cream scones the size of your head! Yummy.
I’m sure that there are plenty of hidden gems that we haven’t discovered just yet either, so do let us know if you have any recommendations!
