Finding Emily Universal Pictures

Having previously worked with the returning Location Manager, the production team came to us knowing they could trust our service from initial enquiry through to filming. Universal Pictures’ latest romcom, Finding Emily, follows two students brought together by a chance encounter on campus. The team approached us in search of a functioning university building, with Manchester’s iconic Sackville Building playing a major role throughout the film. We also provided Location #3035, a contemporary office space in Manchester, which features as the setting for one of Emily’s job interview scenes.
Client: Universal Pictures

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man Netflix

Having worked with UKL on other major drama productions, the client behind the feature film, 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man', created by Stephen Knight, came to us looking for a Manchester location that could deliver both authenticity and the practical access needed for stunt work. Based on their brief, we provided the iconic Sackville Street Building, offering the perfect mix of character and usability. The building’s corridors and ventilation shafts were used to film escape scenes, with stunt coordination making the most of the layout to create tension and movement on screen. By matching the production’s needs with the right space, we helped the team deliver some of the film’s key action moments.
Client: Netflix

Run Away Netflix

Following successful collaborations on earlier series for leading streaming platforms, the Location Manager returned to UKL knowing they could rely on both our locations and our service. For this latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel, they approached us with a selection of locations for the production.

Location #1423, a large and traditional family home in Cheshire, was selected for scenes set at the main character’s home. Location #3055 provided another residential backdrop for a supporting character. Meanwhile, Locations #3115 and #3117 at Alderley Tech Park were used to establish the setting for the fictional St Irvings Hospital. Commercial locations #3035 and #3036 were used to represent the main character’s workplace.
Client: Netflix

Lazarus Prime Video

Having worked with UKL on other series for major streamers, the SLM on this series was familiar with our locations and service level, and came to us this time with a list of locations for this new adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel. Location #2846, an apartment in Manchester, along with #2888 and #2889 - offices and coworking spaces, also in Manchester - were booked for filming scenes taking place at a characters home and a police station respectively, and another three locations were used for gaining easy access and as amenities for the show's crew.
Client: Prime Video

Molly-Mae Prime Video

Following the huge success of ‘Molly-Mae: Behind It All’ series 1, the production team was given the green light for series two - and they came straight to UKL looking for a "Beautiful, light, spacious, and wide affluent home" in the North West of England, where they could film the master interviews for the series during several separate shoots. With a large production team, they also needed enough parking for several cars. We pitched several locations and this stunning detached Edwardian property in Altrincham was the chosen one.
Client: Prime Video

Debenhams Coast

The client came to us knowing exactly which location they wanted for an upcoming bridal fashion shoot: The Grand Hall at Manchester's iconic Sackville Street Building. With a crew of up to 25 people, they wanted the location for a one day stills and video shoot. With it being such a huge location, we assigned a dedicated shoot manager to ensure everything went smoothly - and it did!
Client: Coast

House of Guinness Netflix

The client came to us in search of a Manchester location sufficiently grandiose to serve as the backdrop for a hotel tea room in the latest series from Peaky Blinders creator, Stephen Knight, and having worked with UKL on other blockbuster drama series, they knew we'd be able to give them fast and easy access to the iconic Sackville Street Building. We were told the scenes being filmed there would "span over two story days, involving different characters meeting to discuss business & family plans for the future after a family will is revealed.” You can see the former ballroom's striking checkerboard floor tiles, marble pillars and varnished woodwork from episode 2 onwards.
Client: Netflix

Pushers Channel 4

The producers of this Channel 4 comedy drama written by and starring the comedian Rosie Jones came to us looking for an upmarket residential location: “Rosie Jones' character starts dating a gangster's daughter, and this is their house. Scenes filmed at the house will involve the two of them having dinner and a character finding someone tied up in the bathroom/ bedroom.” With plenty of room for a large crew, and an aesthetic matching the director's vision, location 2979 was chosen. Look out for it in episode 5!

Jack Grealish Kinetica Sports

"We need a house or apartment in Greater Manchester or Cheshire, which looks like it could belong to a famous footballer, specifically, one with a pool, a gym and a master bedroom leading onto a balcony." - that's the brief we were given for this shoot for sport supplement brand, Kinetica, who were collaborating with Jack Grealish to create promotional content for their products. The location would need to be big enough for around 18-20 people, as well as 5 production cars and a lighting truck. And location 2867 in Altrincham ticked all the boxes.
Client: Kinetica Sports

Apple Watch Very

The production company behind this film for online retailer Very came to us with a 'very' specific brief: A house with lighter to mid shades of pink in both the kitchen and living room - or at least one of them. They'd need it for a 2-day shoot happening within a matter of weeks. With colour-drenched interior design having a moment, we were able to give them a couple of options. Location 3067 in Manchester got the gig - providing a pink hallway to boot! - and the shoot took place within the specified timeframe, resulting in this gorgeous video.

The Stolen Girl Disney+

The production company behind the series came to us looking for a large period family home within easy reach of central Manchester, which they could hire as a filming location for two months. After exploring the various options we put forward, the team settled on location 2820, the detached red brick house featured in the show's official promo image. As well as needing the owner to move out for the duration of the booking, the art department wanted to make several major changes to the property, including replacing windows and doors. Happily, we were able to get the all clear from the owner and the production went ahead as intended.
Client: Disney+

The Listeners BBC One

The producers of 4-part BBC One drama, The Listeners, came to us looking for "a turn of the century home" in Manchester, big enough for a large cast and crew. Because it was to be used as a central location during episodes 3 and 4, it would have to be available to hire for several weeks - and the owner would have to move out for the duration. After presenting the team with various options, they eventually chose location 2938, a contemporary, architecturally designed house in Cheshire, approximately 45 minutes from Manchester city centre - and the owner agreed to temporarily relocate. Its sleek design and versatile spaces allowed for a range of scenes to unfold, including one that can be seen in the official trailer for the series, in which a group of people are lying down on the floor at the bottom of an elegant stairwell.
Client: BBC One

Missing You Netflix

The location manager working on Missing You – the latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben bestseller for Netflix – came to us needing two high-end locations in Manchester, where the production was based: an architectural home for a scene in episode 3, in which central character, Detective Kat Donovan, visits her colleague, Charlie Pitts, at home; and a sleek office with panoramic views of the city skyline for a scene in which Kat and Brendan (a young man whose mum has disappeared) talk to a lawyer. After testing various options, the client settled on locations 2951 and 3035. We were also able to provide assistance with parking for tech vehicles for the filming of a chase scene close to one of our major commercial locations.
Client: Netflix

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Freemans

The client wanted a house with a big open-plan kitchen where they could film a christmas TV commercial for the brand Freemans featuring a "well-known household name" (which turned out to be Sophie Ellis-Bextor!). More specifically, it would have to be able to accommodate a crew of more than 60 - and a large pre-built walk-in wardrobe (yes, the orange one we see at the end of the ad). After looking at the options, the client chose location 3008 - see if you can spot it in the kitchen scenes...
Client: Freemans

Intergalactic Sky TV

The client briefed us for a location that could act as a hotel bar in a scene for this brilliant Sky TV drama. We had lots of central Manchester options for them and in the end they chose dark and mysterious location 2909. The scene involved a large scuffle with people being dragged across the floor and in the midst, three burlesque dancers performing on a stage. Needless to say, there was quite a lot going on and a lot of set dressing required before the cameras started rolling.
Client: Sky TV

Cobra Series 3: Rebellion Sky TV

The client approached us for this popular returning drama, not only to revisit to the location for Anna's house again as a continuation from series 2 (this time filming in two of the three blocks) but to also provide them with some additional locations. We sourced and hired another large family home to act as another characters home, as well as arranging filming at two commercial office locations in central Manchester. The offices needed to double for London - something high rise, with lots of glass and a large, impressive entrance reception.
Client: Sky TV

Cobra Series 2: Cyberwar Sky TV

The client needed our help in securing filming at Manchester City Airport to film a scene with 120 extras. Being the film-friendly location they are, the airport were excited and happy to accommodate such a large scale production and we even went along on the day to help marshall all of those people. In addition, we provided extensive hire for the location acting as Anna's house, with the client choosing location 2874. What's more, they even revisited this location in series 3!
Client: Sky TV

Breaking Point Sky Cinema

The client came to us needing a large, impressive location they could take over, uninterrupted, for a number of days to film one of the main breakdancing scenes in this feature film. There was no doubt that Martins Bank in Liverpool was going to be the perfect choice for this as it was completely empty, super film-friendly and willing to take large scale shoots, despite the sensitive GradeII listed nature of the building. Throughout the process we worked closely with the owners of the location and the production to ensure the set dressing requirements wouldn't compromise any of the grade listing features in this stunning building.
Client: Sky Cinema

The Ripper Netflix

This client was London based and didn't know Yorkshire very well, so being the Yorkshire experts we not only helped with providing locations for their contributor interviews but also offered production support. We enlisted one of our location managers to help scout all the locations for the outdoor scenes which included seeking council permissions, closing and traffic managing roads, obtaining permission to fly a drone in a public place and finding a unit base nearby to filming.
Client: Netflix

The Stranger Netflix

The client asked us to help them source some family homes to act as character houses in this popular Netflix drama. Whilst the locations needed to look relatively 'normal' they did need to be big enough to accommodate a crew of circa. 50 people, as well as have room externally (and on the street) to park technical vehicles and trucks. The drama was filmed in 3 blocks, with the locations featuring throughout.
Client: Netflix

The Puppet Master Netflix

The client approached us to help provide some location options for this sensitive Netflix documentary. The owners of the chosen location needed to be ok with not occupying the house whilst the crew were there for complete privacy to the contributors. The crew ended up filming over a number of days to give the contributors enough time and space to tell their story the way they wanted it to be told.
Client: Netflix

Tom Grennan Amen

The client needed a rural location with some industrial elements, vast amounts of space and lots of different backdrops for this exciting music video for artist, Tom Grennan. We chatted through a range of options with them and they liked location 2648 so much they adapted their creative brief to suit. We absolutely love how the final look and feel of the music video turned out.
Client: Amen

Sherwood BBC

The client briefed us for a city centre apartment to act as a character home in this BBC drama. We had a range of options to offer that the client conducted recces at. They settled on a cool loft space with exposed materials and amazing styling. We helped arrange the shoot with the wider building management as well to ensure everybody was on board and all neighbours on the same floor were happy with the arrangements. In addition, we also managed the hire of Martins Bank building for the client, this time utilising the old archive room.
Client: BBC

Everything I Know About Love BBC

The client came to us needing multiple locations for this brilliant Manchester based production. The requirements included a lively bar, a restaurant and a city office. The client shot over a period of months so we worked on the locations on and off as and when the scenes were written and ready for filming.
Client: BBC

Funny Woman Sky Max

The client carried out an extensive hire period at famous Martins Bank in Liverpool for various scenes throughout this production. The main scene was in the banking hall, only the art department re-dressed this to look like a department store and we can't believe the transformation they made. The crew were on site for just over a month prepping, filming and reinstating the location.
Client: Sky Max

The Curse Channel 4

The client was looking for an airport to film a chase and getaway scene so they needed lots of room and a flexible location. The owners of location 2810 were the perfect choice for this client brief, not only are they super film-friendly but they are amenable to last minute changes, allowed the art department to really bring their creative vision to life and even arranged the take off of the plane seamlessly with air traffic control. What's more, the pilot and the plane used also belong to one of the members of staff at the airport!
Client: Channel 4

Sexy Beast Paramount+

The client was looking for a location that could offer a variety of backdrops for different scenes for this high-end production. Martins Bank in Liverpool was the favourite choice in the end and the crew dressed scenes including city offices, a nightclub, a robbery inside a casino and a penthouse apartment. This was a large scale production with a lot of prep work involved beforehand, then, a good amount of time for reinstatement at the end of the hire to return this Grade II listed location back to exactly how it was found at the start of the hire.
Client: Paramount+

Fool Me Once Netflix

The client came to us needing several locations to be used over several weeks of filming, including: a family home to be used as the main character’s house, another family home for her ‘brother’, a swanky exterior (to be used as the entrance to an apartment), a small airport where the main character could give flying lessons, and an imposing building that could pass for a police station.
Client: Netflix

Boat Story BBC One

The client came to us asking for a residential property with an open plan kitchen/living area, which they could use as a filming location a week later. They’d also need access the day before the shoot for some set dressing. Finally, the location had to be within easy reach of the production team’s base at Manchester’s Versa Studios.
Client: BBC One

Nolly ITV

The client wanted to use the Liverpool landmark, Martin’s Bank, for three different scenes, to be filmed over a period of several weeks. The main banking hall was to be transformed into a Birmingham hotel, the exterior of the building would be used as a ‘London’ backdrop, and one of the large boardrooms would be dressed as an Italian restaurant! Knowing that the owners of the building, property investment firm Kinrise, are among our commercial Location Partners, they knew we’d be able to get them in.
Client: ITV

Stay Close Netflix

The client was looking for a ‘normal family home’ to use as the main character's house in a Netflix drama. It had to be big enough to accommodate a crew of up to 50 people and they’d need to film there over a period of 3 months, meaning the owner would have to move out.
Client: Netflix
Locations:

Red Rose BBC3

The client needed two high-end residential locations in the Cheshire area – one to be used as the home of the character, ‘Becky Fox’, and another to be used for the opening sequence, in which a teenage girl jumps from the roof of her family home.
Client: BBC3

Ronaldo Therabody

The client was looking for a luxury home in Liverpool, for a shoot with ‘a famous footballer’ (who later turned out to be Christiano Ronaldo!). They’d need to film him using the Therabody ‘theragun’ in a home gym, maybe a pool area, a bedroom, and a living room. They’d also need to film the player getting in a car.
Client: Therabody

Mel B Marks & Spencer

The client needed a cool residential location in or near to Leeds for a ‘sponsored content shoot’ featuring former Spice Girl. The resulting images would feature inside and on the cover of The Sunday Times Style magazine, while the video content would be used for a brand-sponsored digital video campaign to be published by The Sunday Times Style’s YouTube channel.
