Where was The Listeners filmed?
Where was The Listeners filmed? We take you inside one of the key locations where this thought-provoking BBC mini-series was filmed.
BBC One’s haunting new mini series, The Listeners – which is based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Jordan Tannahill – has captivated viewers with its provocative narrative, stellar acting and eerie locations since being aired for the first time on Tuesday 19th November and subsequently made available via the BBC iPlayer.
But whilst we know much about the plot and the cast, the BBC has revealed very little about the exact filming locations used in the series, saying only that was shot in and around Greater Manchester (unlike the original novel, which was set in contemporary America). So where was The Listeners filmed exactly?
Where was The Listeners filmed?
Many viewers will have recognised the world-leading deep-space radio observatory, Jodrell Bank, as one of the filming locations used in The Listeners. But you’d be hard-pressed to identify many other locations used in the mini series, which is exactly what was intended. “We shot the series around Manchester,” says executive producer Ed Guiney, “but it’s not set anywhere specific, it is English suburbia.”
By episodes 3 and 4, however, you’re likely to find yourself wanting to know more about the architectural dreamhouse that features heavily in those episodes. And we’re here to scratch that itch for you.

The house where The Listeners was filmed
As the agency that provided the location, we can tell you all about the house where episodes 3 and 4 of The Listeners were filmed, and even give you a virtual tour. It is, in fact, in a stunning, architecturally designed house in Cheshire, approximately 45 minutes from Manchester city centre – known to us and our clients as location 2938.
